Diamond E Ranch
Activities Area Map Reservations About the Ranch Accommodatons
In northeast Wyoming, the Bear Lodge Mountains are an extension of the Black Hills. The Native American Sioux called the area Paha Sapa. They believed the mountains to be mystical. Many continue to believe that.
The ranch has a colorful history partially described in the movie "THE COWBOYS" starring John Wayne. The cowboys trailed cattle from "Billings to Belle Fourche". The Belle Fourche River flows on the Diamond E, but the natural corral, called the Sundance Flat, where the cowboys held the cattle before the last long drive to a railway was at that time the Cross Anchor and now is the Diamond E.
